What to see and do in Sellent

Sellent
Village
Sellent is one of the smallest municipalities in the comarca of La Ribera Alta, in the province of Valencia, situated at its southern end, about 55 kilometres from the capital. It is enclosed by mountains except to the northwest, where the valley of the Sellent River opens up; the river gives the town its name and, as a tributary of the Júcar, rises in the comarca of the Canal de Navarrés and receives strong floods in autumn that can cause flooding in the Ribera. The ravine of l'Horteta separates the old town, on a hillock, from the new town. A little over half of its 13.91 square kilometres of territory is given over to farming. Its main heritage landmarks are a castle of Arab origin and the 16th-century church of the Purísima Concepción.
