Llanera de Ranes
Village
Llanera de Ranes is a municipality of the province of Valencia, in the district of La Costera, with flat relief except at its western end, with 1,062 inhabitants. Its first lordship belonged to Diego de Fenollet, and later passed to the Vilaragut family, marquises of Llanera and counts of Olocau. Almost depopulated after the expulsion of the Moriscos in 1609, it had barely 44 houses in 1646; the earthquake of 1743 badly damaged the district and led to the incorporation of the neighbouring depopulated settlement of Torrent del Fenollet. It preserves the parish church of San Juan Bautista and two museums, the Lluís Perales ethnological museum and the Boluda Watercolours museum, devoted to the Valencian painter Rafael Boluda, both open at weekends.
