What to see and do in Casinos

Casinos
Village
Casinos is a municipality of El Camp de Túria, in the province of Valencia, with 3,153 inhabitants (INE 2025), situated at the northwestern end of the Llíria plain; it is the last town in the comarca where Valencian is spoken. It arose as a hamlet beside the road to Aragon, becoming separate from Llíria after its parish, the church of Santa Bárbara, was established in 1788. It preserves the Ibero-Roman settlement of la Torreseca, inhabited from the 4th century until the Sertorian Wars of the 1st century BC, and several cisterns of Arab origin. It is known for its peladillas (sugared almonds) made from marcona almonds and its turrones of honey, almond and egg white, to which it has dedicated a fair on the last weekend of November since the year 2000.
Archaeological park of la Torreseca
Monument
Ibero-Roman settlement located about two kilometres from the town centre of Casinos, with the remains of a fortified farming hamlet from the 4th to the 1st centuries BC. The site of the Torre Seca was inhabited from the early 4th century BC until, possibly, the Sertorian Wars of the 1st century BC. Within the municipal district there are contemporary remains at the cerro del Corral de Pomer, el Castellar and el Pla, as well as another settlement that survived into a period of advanced Romanisation at la Seña, with remains from that period at el Borreguillo and la Caña del Flare.
Arab cisterns of Casinos
Curiosity
Casinos preserves several cisterns of Arab origin, among them the aljibe Nou, the aljibe Blanc and the one at El Olmo, the legacy of a water heritage tied to the watercourses of the municipal district.
Hermitage of San Roque de Casinos
Monument
A hermitage on the Montaña de Chiner, at the entrance to the village of Casinos, one of the municipality's main religious landmarks along with the parish church of Santa Bárbara.
The separation of Casinos
Historical milestone
The township born on the edge of the Aragon road separated from Llíria and formed its own municipality; its parish had been erected in 1788 by Archbishop Fabián y Fuero, the first step of its autonomous life.
The sugared almonds of Casinos
Food and drink
Marcona almonds bathed in successive layers of sugar until they form a smooth white crust, made by hand in the village's workshops; it is the sweet that has made Casinos known outside the comarca.
The Casinos Artisan Sweets Fair
Activity
Every last weekend of November, and since the year 2000, the village devotes a fair to its turrón of honey, almond and egg white and to its sugared almonds, with open workshops and tastings.
