What to see and do in Bugarra

Bugarra
Village
Bugarra is a municipality of the comarca of Los Serranos, in the province of Valencia, situated in the basin of the Turia river, on the northern slope of the sierra de Chiva. It is Spanish-speaking, with 774 inhabitants, and together with Pedralba and Gestalgar forms a sub-comarca historically linked to Liria. Iberian remains have been found in its municipal area, at Torralba, the Loma de la Tía Soldá, El Castillejo and El Corral Quemao, and Roman remains near La Hortozuela. The town was conquered by James I and was left depopulated in 1609 after the expulsion of the moriscos, making later resettlement necessary. Its parish did not become independent from that of Pedralba until 1902. The Turia, which crosses the municipal area from west to east, offers an area suitable for swimming near the old campsite.
