What to see and do in Gorga

Gorga
Village
Gorga is a municipality in the comarca of El Comtat (Condado de Cocentaina), in the province of Alicante, situated at the confluence of the valleys of Seta and Travadell, on the right side of the Seta river, between the Sierra de Alfaro and the Sierra de la Serrella. The parish church of the Assumption, in neoclassical style, is considered one of the finest examples of that style in the comarca; its austere bell tower is the focal point of the small town centre. The population, of Muslim origin like the neighbouring castle of Travadell, was conquered by James I, who resettled it in 1248, and later belonged to the barony of Roger de Lauria. It has 286 inhabitants and its economy is based on almonds, olives, fruit trees and livestock.
