Madarcos
Village
Madarcos is one of the least populated municipalities in the Community of Madrid, with about 69 residents, located in the sierra del Rincón, on the foothills of Somosierra, at 1,059 metres above sea level. The village sits on a plateau bordered by the gorge formed by the Madarquillos river, which rises in the sierra de La Acebeda and flows, together with other streams, into the Puentes Viejas reservoir; the municipal area, included in the Biosphere Reserve since its extension in 2022, combines meadows and pastures with scrubland and scattered oaks, and irrigated gardens along the watercourse. Many of its houses are old stables that have been restored while keeping their original appearance, and the square holds the church of Santa Ana and the shoeing frame.
