What to see and do in Prádena del Rincón

Prádena del Rincón
Village
Prádena del Rincón is a village of about 146 inhabitants located at 1,104 metres above sea level, in the Sierra Norte of Madrid and within the sierra del Rincón, whose peaks exceed 1,750 metres. Together with Horcajuelo de la Sierra, La Hiruela, Montejo de la Sierra and Puebla de la Sierra, it forms the sierra del Rincón, declared a Biosphere Reserve by Unesco in June 2005; its woods of oaks, holly and juniper are home to foxes, roe deer, wild boar and golden eagles. In 1881 a Bronze Age fibrolite axe was found within its boundaries, and as early as 1076 the Fuero de Sepúlveda, granted by Alfonso VI, mentions the land where it stands. In its church of Santo Domingo de Silos, three 14th-century Gothic carvings were found in 2011, buried beneath the atrium.
