What to see and do in Vallfogona de Riucorb

Vallfogona de Riucorb
Village
Vallfogona de Riucorb is a municipality in the province of Tarragona, in the Conca de Barberà comarca, near the Corb river, with 95 inhabitants. It preserves its medieval character: the ruins of a castle that belonged to the Templars and later to the Hospitallers, and the Gothic church of Santa Maria, with a Romanesque doorway and an altarpiece from 1385 by the sculptor Jordi de Déu. Its bell-tower clock, from the 16th century, is one of the oldest in Spain. It traditionally lived off dry farming, especially olive growing, and today also from its mineral-medicinal waters, exploited at a spa. The poet Francesc Vicent Garcia, known as the rector of Vallfogona, was parish priest here in the 17th century.
