Montornès de Segarra
Village
Montornès de Segarra is a municipality in the comarca of la Segarra, in the province of Lleida, on the border with l'Urgell, formed by the homonymous capital and the hamlet of Mas de Bondia, incorporated in the mid-19th century. The village, raised at 605 metres of altitude, sits at the confluence of the river Cercavins and the Montornès stream, and is dominated by the remains of the castle, some of whose walls date from the 12th and 13th centuries, built over Iberian and Roman settlement strata; next to it stands the parish church, dedicated to Sant Joan Baptista, raised making use of outbuildings of the castle. It preserves typical corners and old houses with voussoired doorways. Rain-fed agriculture and sheep farming are today its only economic activities. It has 87 inhabitants.

Monument
Ruins atop the elongated hill on which the village sits, next to the parish church: a split wall of stone and mortar of considerable thickness that shows its defensive function. Documented since Ramon Miró's will of 1079, in 1133 it passed to the Cervera family; in 1181 Alfonso el Casto donated it to the Templars, and in the early 14th century, after their suppression, to the Hospitallers.
