What to see and do in la Fuliola

La Fuliola
Village
La Fuliola is a municipality in the comarca of l'Urgell, in Lleida, with the walls and gates of the old walled town. According to its charter of settlement, from the year 1080, Count Ermengol IV of Urgell granted Guillem d'Isarn the estate of la Fuliola to build a defensive tower and resettle it; by the end of that century the tower, the church and a walled precinct had already been built. Depopulated by noble feuding, Count Ermengol X granted a new charter of settlement in 1280, and from 1415 it came under the jurisdiction of the monastery of Poblet. The arrival of the Urgell canal, between 1852 and 1862, turned the dry lands into irrigated ones. The village holds its summer patron saint's festival on 26 July, in honour of Santa Anna, and its winter one on 13 December, for Santa Llúcia.
