What to see and do in Llavorsí

Llavorsí
Village
Llavorsí is a town in Pallars Sobirà, in Lleida province, located at 811 m altitude at the confluence of the Noguera de Cardós and the Noguera Pallaresa, a river that here changes direction as it leaves the Vall d'Àneu and enters a narrow, mountainous stretch. Until the mid-19th century it was called Llaborsí, and its municipal area, of 68.51 km², also includes the settlements of Aidí, Arestui, Baiasca and Montenartró. The river, famous for its rapids, has made the village the capital of Pyrenean rafting. It preserves the Romanesque church of Sant Serni de Baiasca and holds a prestigious sheepdog trial each year bringing together the best dogs in Catalonia, as well as its main festival and the pilgrimage of Biuse. It has 342 inhabitants (INE 2025).
Noguera Pallaresa through Sort and Llavorsí
Nature
The stretch of the Noguera Pallaresa between Sort and Llavorsí (Pallars Sobirà) is one of the best settings for rafting and whitewater sports in Europe. In Llavorsí, where the Noguera de Cardós flows into the Noguera Pallaresa, numerous rafting companies are concentrated. Sort, for its part, has hosted several canoeing championships, including the Freestyle Canoeing World Championship held in 2019.
Llavorsí Main Festival
Activity
Festa major of Llavorsí, a municipality in the comarca of Pallars Sobirà, in the province of Lleida. It is celebrated on 26 July, the feast of Saint Anne, patron saint of the town, a date the municipality's article lists among the main events of its annual festive calendar.
Noguera Pallaresa River
Nature
The Noguera Pallaresa is a Pyrenean river flowing north to south, a right-bank tributary of the Segre, which rises at the Pla de Beret, in the Vall d'Aran, a few metres from the source of the Garonne. Unlike the Garonne, which flows towards the Atlantic, the Noguera Pallaresa descends southward and crosses Pallars Sobirà and Pallars Jussà, of which it has been the historic communication axis, until joining the Segre at Camarasa after 154 kilometres. Its basin covers 2,821 km², 12.22% of that of the Segre, and in its upper stretch it gathers the waters of tributaries such as the Bonaigua, the Noguera de Cardós and the Flamicell, crossing municipalities such as Esterri d'Àneu, Sort and Llavorsí, where it is today an international benchmark for rafting and white-water sports.
Rafting and water sports in Llavorsí
Curiosity
The Catalan capital of white-water sports, thanks to the flow of the Noguera Pallaresa. In the early 1990s the town became the birthplace of rafting on a European scale, and today several adventure-sports companies bring thousands of visitors each year to travel down the river. At Llavorsí, at 811 metres above sea level, the Noguera Pallaresa meets the Noguera de Cardós and changes direction, entering a narrow, steep-sided stretch of valley that favours the practice of these sports.
Festival of els Raiers
Activity
A re-enactment of the traditional log-raft descent down the Noguera Pallaresa river.
The hydroelectric power stations and the transformation of the valleys
Historical milestone
From the nineteen fifties onwards the construction of power stations, canals and reservoirs on the Noguera Pallaresa and its tributaries attracted gangs of workers, opened roads and changed the regime of the river and the landscape of the comarca.
