What to see and do in Copons

Copons
Village
Copons is a town in the north of l'Anoia, with 352 inhabitants (INE 2025), with the castle of Copons and the spot known as the Gorg del Nafre on the Riera Gran, settled in the valley formed by the confluence of the river Noya with the riera de Sant Pere. Within the old walled enclosure run the streets of Castell and Mur, and outside the walls the Raval and the Vilanova, today Carrer Major. The church of Santa María, with wide naves and an octagonal bell tower, was built between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. That century was for Copons an age of prosperity thanks to merchants who carried textile and paper manufactures from Igualada as far as Castile and the ports of La Coruña and Tarragona, and brought back grain for the eighteen flour mills that operated along the river Noya.
