What to see and do in Sant Martí de Tous

Sant Martí de Tous
Village
Sant Martí de Tous is a municipality in the western part of the comarca of l'Anoia, in the province of Barcelona, about ten kilometres from Igualada, on the border with la Conca de Barberà. Documented since the year 960 under the simple name of Tous, it changed it in 1916 so as not to coincide with another town of the same name in la Ribera Alta. It has 1,269 inhabitants (INE 2025) and lives off agriculture, livestock farming, poultry farming and a small industry. The village keeps growing, as it has for more than a thousand years, around its restored castle, and preserves the church of Sant Miquel, the ruins of the castle of la Roqueta, in Fillol, and the waterfall of la Fou de Tous. Since 2010 it has celebrated the Festival de Llegendes de Catalunya in July and keeps traditions such as the ball de faixes.
Sant Miquel de Sant Martí de Tous
Monument
Romanesque church included in the Inventory of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia, located next to the castle of la Roqueta, of which today only a small series of round arches attached to one of its outer walls survives, with small windows similar to those of watchtowers. It was the work of the Cervelló family and was consecrated by the bishop and abbot Oliba in 1043. For it, Bartolomé Bermejo painted in 1468 the panel of Sant Miquel signed Bartolomeus Rubeus, today in the National Gallery in London.
La Fou de Tous
Nature
