Pacs del Penedès
Village
Pacs del Penedès is a wine-growing municipality in the comarca of Alt Penedès, situated on the right bank of the Foix river, about three kilometres from Vilafranca del Penedès, from which it is separated by the hills of Sant Pau. It is recorded in documents from 990 as belonging to the district of Olèrdola; in 1013 it belonged to Gombau de Bessora and the castle of Pacs is already documented in 1066, although in 1359 part of the territory belonged to the monastery of Santes Creus. Its church of Sant Genís, also mentioned in those early documents, was rebuilt in the 17th century, with a façade dated 1669. The population is spread across several neighbourhoods, including l'Agrícola, la Rectoria and el Pla de Cavalls, and celebrates its main feast on the first weekend of August.
