Puigdàlber
Village
Puigdàlber is a wine-growing municipality in the Alt Penedès, in the province of Barcelona, and the smallest in area in Catalonia, with a municipal area of less than one square kilometre and 621 inhabitants (INE 2025). Located in the Penedès depression and drained by the Romaní and Serra streams, the settlement is grouped around the church of Sant Andreu, inaugurated in 1942 to replace the original Gothic church, destroyed during the Civil War; the place is first documented in 1108, and by 1195 the place name Vives de Puigdàlber is already recorded. The town celebrates its main festival in December, for Saint Andrew. The main economic activity is agriculture, with vine cultivation, and the village manufactures cane blinds that are exported mainly to France.
