Sardón de Duero
Village
Sardón de Duero is a town of around 600 inhabitants in the comarca of Tierra de Pinares, province of Valladolid, situated beside the N-122 road linking Valladolid with Soria, 28 kilometres from the capital. It arose from a colonisation dependent on the monastery of Retuerta, whose Romanesque abbey still stands on its territory, in a stretch of the Duero valley where several monastic foundations settled from the Middle Ages onward. Having never been a noble seigneury, it has no blazoned houses, and its most singular building is a 19th-century paper mill.
