Valdenebro de los Valles
Village
Valdenebro de los Valles is a municipality in the province of Valladolid, in Castilla y León, situated in the south of the Tierra de Campos comarca, already at the foot of the Montes Torozos, from which it takes its name for its numerous juniper trees (enebros); it has about 185 inhabitants. Its municipal area preserves traces of a Roman villa at the site of Arenillas and a Roman funerary stele, now in the Museo Arqueológico of Valladolid. The remains of walls and of a castle, together with the legend of the Teso de la Horca, recall its role as a medieval frontier between León and Castilla, when in 1049 Pelayo Bermúdez granted the town to Ferdinand I. Its church of San Vicente Mártir was rebuilt in stone in the 16th century on a Romanesque base from the 13th century still visible in the tower.
