Santervás de Campos
Village
Santervás de Campos is a municipality of Valladolid, in Castilla y León, in Tierra de Campos, with about a hundred inhabitants, through which the Camino de Santiago de Madrid passes. Its origin goes back to a hostelry documented in the 11th century as Villa Citti, which by around 1130 already appeared as the parish of San Gervasio; that same year the infanta Sancha donated the priory and its estate to the abbey of Sahagún, in an act signed by a large ecclesiastical retinue that included the primate of Toledo. The priory burned down on the night of 19 to 20 November 1844. Birthplace of Juan Ponce de León, discoverer of Florida, to whom it dedicates a museum, its church of San Gervasio y San Protasio preserves three Romanesque-Mudéjar apses from the last quarter of the 12th century with blind arcading and dentil friezes.
