What to see and do in Villanueva de la Condesa

Villanueva de la Condesa
Village
Villanueva de la Condesa is a hamlet of around 64 inhabitants in the Tierra de Campos of Valladolid, already documented in 1062 as Villa Nova de Galindo Núñiz, after the resettler who founded it, and placed in 1352 within the Merindad de Carrión of doña Inés Ramírez. In 1392 its lord pledged it to Ruy Ponce de León, and in 1752, according to the Catastro de la Ensenada, it belonged to the Count of Benavente, later passing to the House of Osuna. It lives off dryland cereals and a flock of sheep that gives fame to its lechazo churro. Its cereal steppes, among the richest in birdlife on the peninsula, hold a significant share of the world population of great bustards, as well as little bustards, pin-tailed sandgrouse, black-bellied sandgrouse and Montagu's harriers.
