Monasterio de Vega
Village
Monasterio de Vega is a municipality in Tierra de Campos, in the province of Valladolid, whose 79 residents live beside the convent that gave it its name, founded in the 10th century and studied by Luciano Serrano in his 1927 Cartulario del Monasterio de Vega. The parish, dedicated to San Andrés, raises a four-tiered Mudéjar tower and holds in its presbytery a Gothic crucifix from around 1300. The village celebrates its patronal festivities around 16 August, the feast of San Roque, which last three or four days with activities for all ages and night-time verbenas, and celebrates again on 30 November, the feast of San Andrés.
