Roales de Campos
Village
Roales de Campos is a municipality in Tierra de Campos, in the province of Valladolid, with around 155 inhabitants, watered by the río Cea; together with Quintanilla del Molar it forms an enclave of Valladolid surrounded by the provinces of Zamora and León. In the mid-19th century it had 570 inhabitants, according to Pascual Madoz's Diccionario geográfico-estadístico-histórico, far more than it has today. Its parish church, dedicated to San Miguel Arcángel, is an 18th-century baroque building with a single nave divided into three bays, built combining stone, adobe and brick. Its patron saint is Santa Lucía, whose feast is celebrated on 13 December, and on the first weekend of August the celebration in her honour is repeated if it does not coincide with the feast of Nuestra Señora.
