Ceinos de Campos
Village
Ceinos de Campos is a town in Tierra de Campos, province of Valladolid, with about 172 inhabitants, which grew up under the protection of a bailiwick that the Knights Templar established there. The arcade of its church of Santa María del Temple, kept for years in the National Museum of Sculpture in Valladolid, returned to the town in 2014. In the areas known as Fuente de Santiago and Carrecastro a Roman villa dated between the 2nd and 4th centuries AD has been found, and in the mid-19th century the town had 409 inhabitants, according to the Diccionario de Pascual Madoz. Every year, from 10 to 12 August, the Encomienda Templaria is held, a medieval Templar-themed encampment with workshops, re-enactments and talks.
