Mambrilla de Castrejón
Village
Mambrilla de Castrejón is a municipality of 105 inhabitants in the comarca of Ribera del Duero, in the province of Burgos, which lives from farming and the wine industry. It belonged to the Community of Villa and Tierra of Roa, which arose in 1143 when Alfonso VII granted the fuero of Sepúlveda, being one of its 33 hamlets; later it was a lordship villa under the jurisdiction of the Duke of Siruelo, who appointed its ordinary mayor. It preserves the rollo de justicia, bicentennial manor houses, the Casa de Amparo de las Heras and the ermita de Nuestra Señora de Castrejón, whose patronal festival is celebrated on the second Sunday of May. Its church of the Asunción holds a 14th-century Gothic Christ.
