Cubilla
Village
Cubilla is a hamlet of barely 22 residents in the sierra de Cabrejas, within the protected area of the Sabinares of that sierra, which occupies more than half of its municipal area. The church of San Pedro already existed in the 15th century, and in the 18th century marble quarries were opened that boosted the local economy well into the 20th century; between 1945 and 1979 a resin factory also operated there. The village also preserves fossil sites from the Jurassic and mineral water springs. It traditionally lived on farming and timber operations, and in January holds the festival of la Primegena.
