Valdelagua del Cerro
Village
Valdelagua del Cerro is a Sorian municipality of thirteen inhabitants and under five square kilometres, in the district of the Moncayo, which until 1916 was simply called Valdelagua. In the Middle Ages it belonged to the Comunidad de Villa y Tierra de Magaña and, later, to the lordship of the Duke of Alba within the district of Suellacabras. Its church of Santa María Magdalena, in Gothic-Renaissance style from the mid-16th century, is covered with a star vault that replaced the original ribbed vault, and preserves an earlier Gothic chapel beside the presbytery. The main altarpiece, from the mid-17th century, brings together paintings by two different artists, one in a colder style and the other with Italianate manners.
