What to see and do in Fuentecantos

Fuentecantos
Village
Fuentecantos is a hamlet of 65 inhabitants thirteen kilometres from the city of Soria, in the area known as the Campillo de Buitrago, watered by a canal that draws water from the embalse de Buitrago reservoir on its way to the canal de Numancia; it stands at 1,028 metres. In 1528 nineteen pecheros paid tax there, and in the 1842 census the village had 41 households and about 164 residents; by the mid-19th century it had 42 houses. It preserves the old houses of the schoolmaster, the doctor and the priest, today lived in by private owners, next to the church of San Miguel, patron of the village, the old school turned into a cultural centre, the town hall with its pelota court, and the fountain with its spouts, trough and washing place.
Church of San Miguel Arcángel
Monument
The parish is dedicated to San Miguel Arcángel, patron of the village. In the nineteenth century the municipality had population enough to maintain a schoolmaster, a doctor and a parish priest with their respective houses; today 65 households remain.
The fountain, the trough and the washing place
Curiosity
The ensemble formed by the spouted fountain, the stone trough and the communal washing place sums up the ethnographic heritage of the village, along with the pelota court installed in the municipal building and the old school turned into a cultural centre.
