What to see and do in Velilla de la Sierra

Velilla de la Sierra
Village
Velilla de la Sierra is a hamlet of 26 inhabitants located 9 kilometres north of the city of Soria, in the valley of the río Merdancho, north of the sierra de Santa Ana. Its Gothic parish church of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves crowns the highest point of the hamlet and holds a 17th-century Christ, and at the entrance to the village stands the ermita de la Soledad. Four kilometres to the south, on the Monte del Cristo, the ermita del Santo Cristo de Olmedillos brings together in pilgrimage the residents of Velilla and of neighbouring villages, such as Renieblas. The Censo de Pecheros of 1528 already recorded 23 family units in the place, then called Vililla.

Monument
