Fuentelsaz de Soria
Village
Fuentelsaz de Soria is a municipality of 65 inhabitants fifteen kilometres from the city of Soria; its 26 square kilometres belonged to the sexmo de San Juan of the Comunidad de Villa y Tierra de Soria. The relief runs from the southern plain, Los Llanos, at about 1,050 metres, up to the cerro de San Juan, of 1,359 metres, in the north; the village sits at 1,090 metres. Already in 1528 the Censo de Pecheros recorded 26 taxpaying family units. In the mid-19th century the municipality grew by incorporating the hamlets of Aylloncillo and Pedraza, and until 1916 it was called simply Fuentelsaz; in the mid-20th century it also incorporated the town of Portelrubio.
