What to see and do in Centenera de Andaluz

Centenera de Andaluz
Village
Centenera de Andaluz is a hamlet in the comarca of Berlanga, in the province of Soria, situated above the Duero, at 94 metres of altitude and 45 kilometres from the provincial capital. It was incorporated in 1089 into the Comunidad de Villa y Tierra de Andaluz thanks to the Fuero de Andaluz, the first fuero of Soria, and its Romanesque church of San Lorenzo was built in the late 12th or early 13th century. The climate, continental Mediterranean, brings long, harsh winters and short, hot summers, with temperatures ranging from 42°C in August to -13°C in January. With 19 inhabitants, its church holds the carving of the Virgen de Linares, brought from the ruined hermitage still visible beside the river, south of the village.
The church of San Lorenzo
Monument
A Romanesque parish church raised between the end of the twelfth century and the beginning of the thirteenth, the most substantial building of a municipality of twenty square kilometres that today does not reach twenty inhabitants.
The Hermitage of Nuestra Señora de Linares
Monument
Its ruins stand on a bend of the Duero south of the village; it was the parish church of the deserted settlement of Quintanar and is still the destination of the pilgrimage festival shared by two neighbouring settlements.
The 22 August Pilgrimage
Activity
Every 22 August the festival of the Virgen de Linares is held beside the ruins of her hermitage, in a devotion shared with the village of Rebollo that has outlived the disappearance of the hamlet of Quintanar.
