What to see and do in Soliedra

Soliedra
Village
Soliedra is a municipality in the district of Almazán, in the province of Soria, with a municipal area of under twenty square kilometres that includes the hamlet of Borchicayada, incorporated between 1850 and 1857. After the fall of the Ancien Régime it was constituted as a municipality under the name Soliedra y Granja de Almonacid, and in the 1842 census it had 28 households and 110 residents; today it has 37 inhabitants. It preserves the church dedicated to the Asunción de Nuestra Señora and, on a small rise, the ruins of the castle of Soliedra.

Monument
Of the castle that once watched over these heights, stretches of wall and other remains survive above the hamlet of Soliedra. Like the rest of Spain's castles, it was given generic protection under the decree of 22 April 1949, which placed under state protection "all the castles of Spain, whatever their state of ruin," and it is on that basis that it now holds the status of Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection). The local heritage is completed by the church of San Esteban Protomártir (Saint Stephen the Protomartyr) and the hermitage of San Roque (Saint Roch).
