Nolay
Village
Nolay is a municipality in the comarca of Almazán, in the province of Soria, situated between Almazán and Gómara, with a population of 45 inhabitants. It lives off cereals and oilseed crops, the sole income of an economy in which livestock farming, present until twenty years ago, has disappeared. It retains the parish church of Pope Saint Clement, and celebrates its patronal festivities on the third weekend of July; in the 1980s, organised by young people with support from the town council, they drew more than 4,000 visitors, with performances by groups such as José Antonio Labordeta and the Nuevo Mester de Juglaría.
The church of San Clemente de Nolay
Monument
The parish church of this village of barely half a hundred inhabitants was built in the last third of the twelfth century and preserves its Romanesque design, one more of the churches that mark the Romanesque route of the Tierra de Almazán.
