Fuentesoto
Village
Fuentesoto is a village in the province of Segovia, in the Tierra de Pinares district, which also includes the settlement of Tejares and the depopulated San Vicente de Pospozuelo, of which no trace remains. It has about 96 inhabitants in a municipal area of almost 30 square kilometres devoted mainly to cereal crops, with a small holm-oak wood. The village sits in a hollow, at the foot of the spring that gives it its name and from which the Fuentesoto river rises, with orchards beside its poplars, now scarce. It stands at 930 metres altitude, near the border with Burgos and Valladolid. On top of a hill it preserves the old church of San Gregorio, of Visigothic origin, and in August it holds the Procession of the Lanterns, in which thousands of candles light the passage of San Vicente.
