Valle de Tabladillo
Village
Valle de Tabladillo is a municipality of the Community of Town and Land of Sepúlveda, in the province of Segovia, within the Ochavo de las Pedrizas y Valdenavares, north of the Hoces del Duratón natural park; it has 78 inhabitants (INE 2025) over 16.46 km² and also includes the settlement of Barrio de Arriba, as well as the deserted village of Pajares, of which remain the ruins of the ermita de San Juan. Its residents alternated fieldwork in summer with gypsum extraction in winter, in mines that came to number eight and were worked with pick and shovel: the gypsum was brought out in sacks, fired in a kiln with poplar wood, ground and distributed. It was used to build, among other works, the Palacio Real de La Granja de San Ildefonso. The last mine closed in the late 1990s.
