Castroserracín
Village
Castroserracín is a municipality in the province of Segovia, covering 21 km² with 24 inhabitants, resettled during the Reconquista by the Community of Town and Land of Sepúlveda, within the Ochavo de las Pedrizas y Valdenavares. Its name joins the word castro (fort) with the medieval personal name Sarracinus, common in the Middle Ages among the Mozarabic population and probably that of a former landowner, of the same origin as place names such as Sarracín, in Burgos, or Villasarracino, in Palencia. The territory, located in the Segovian district of the Community of Town and Land of Sepúlveda, reflects in its medieval documents the presence of settlers of Mozarabic origin.
