Membibre de la Hoz
Village
Membibre de la Hoz is a hamlet in Segovia of 42 inhabitants, in the community of Town and Land of Sepúlveda, situated at 870 metres above sea level and noted for its many natural springs, which give rise to the Hoz river. Its continentalized Mediterranean climate, with long, cold winters and frequent temperature inversions, and its proximity to neighbouring Sacramenia — conquered by the counts of Castile in 912 and again, after its destruction by Almanzor in 983, in 1013 by Sancho García — mark the history of this part of the valley. It preserves the Romanesque church of San Martín, the hermitage of the Virgin of Rehoyo and an old flour mill.
