Fuentesaúco de Fuentidueña
Village
Fuentesaúco de Fuentidueña is a village in the province of Segovia, part of the former Community of Town and Land of Fuentidueña, at the northern tip of the province, with about 216 inhabitants. It was known simply as Fuentesaúco until the reform of the place-name register in 1916, and between 1969 and 1982 it had the neighbouring Cozuelos de Fuentidueña attached to it, which later became an independent municipality again. Its population has fallen markedly since the rural exodus, especially between 1960 and 1980, when it shrank to less than half through emigration to Madrid and Valladolid. It preserves the church dedicated to Santo Domingo de Silos and celebrates the Virgin of the Olma on 21 June.
