Languilla
Village
Languilla is a municipality in the province of Segovia, in the Community of Town and Land of Sepúlveda, with about 79 inhabitants split between the village and the hamlet of Mazagatos, where the Aguisejo and Riaza rivers meet amid black poplars, aspens and ash trees, before the landscape gives way to cereal land and plateaus of juniper and holm oak. Founded by settlers from nearby Langa de Duero, in Soria, it belonged to the Community of Town and Land of Ayllón and lives from farming and livestock raising. Its church of San Miguel preserves a Romanesque portal with capitals carved with Adam and Eve in paradise and the Massacre of the Innocents, a work attributed to the stonemasons who worked on the cathedral of El Burgo de Osma; it also keeps a processional cross from Sigüenza, from the late 16th century.
