Alconada de Maderuelo
Village
Alconada de Maderuelo is a municipality in the province of Segovia, located between Ayllón and Maderuelo, near the Cañada Real Soriana Occidental and the tail of the Linares reservoir, on the río Riaza. It belonged to the community of town and land of Maderuelo and was briefly part of the province of Burgos before remaining definitively in Segovia with the 1833 provincial division. Until 1916 it was called simply Alconada; it has included the settlement of Alconadilla since the mid-19th century. It lives off agriculture, above all barley, and sheep and cattle farming. The Baroque church of San Martín de Tours crowns the village and is one of the few in the area with its altar facing east; beside it traditional Castilian dovecotes are preserved. It has 23 inhabitants.
