Honrubia de la Cuesta
Village
Honrubia de la Cuesta is a town in the province of Segovia, at 1001 metres above sea level, on the border with Burgos, within the Ribera del Duero and the former Community of Town and Land of Montejo. It was known simply as Honrubia until the reform of the municipal nomenclature in 1916, and in the 13th century was known as Fuent Ruvia; in the mid-19th century it had 220 inhabitants, against 49 today. Beside the motorway it preserves a Roman milestone and the hermitage of the Virgin of Lirio, whose feast is celebrated on the first weekend of July and the first weekend of September; the village also has the church of San Cristóbal.
