What to see and do in La Losa

La Losa
Village
La Losa is a municipality in the province of Segovia, 13 km south-west of the capital and at the foot of La Mujer Muerta, in the Sierra de Guadarrama; it is watered by the Madrones and Matavacas streams. Its name, of pre-Roman Celtogallic origin, is documented as early as 967 as La Lausa. Founded during the medieval resettlement within the Community of City and Land of Segovia, it gained importance in 1515, when the Marquessate of Santiago built a shearing house here, making use of the passage of transhumant livestock along the Cañada de la Vera de la Sierra. A town of about 543 inhabitants that lives from livestock farming, agriculture and the hospitality trade, it preserves the Gothic church of San Juan Evangelista, declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) in 1995.

The Salty Spring
