Fuenteliante
Village
Fuenteliante is a hamlet in Salamanca province, in the comarca of Vitigudino, in the sub-comarca of El Abadengo, with around 80 inhabitants, situated 87 kilometres from the city of Salamanca and watered by the río Camaces, which rises in the Dehesa de Hernandinos and flows into the Huebra. Surrounded by dehesas of oaks and holm oaks, it depends heavily on livestock farming, above all of the morucha breed. Founded in the 12th century as part of the Leonese repopulation under the name Fuentelifante, it was placed within the diocese of Ciudad Rodrigo, inside the Campo de Camaces. The original village became depopulated and was resettled in 1784 by twenty families who came from Olmedo de Camaces and Bañobárez, along with former tenant farmers. The municipality also includes the depopulated hamlet of Centenares.
