Éjeme
Village
Éjeme is a municipality of about 140 inhabitants, formed together with the hamlets of Martín Vicente and Portillo, in the Salamancan Tierra de Alba. Its name evolved from the Fexem documented in the 13th century to the Fexeme of the 15th, before settling into its current form. Founded during the medieval repopulation by the kings of León, it belonged to the Cantalberque quarter of the jurisdiction of Alba de Tormes, within the Kingdom of León, and had 224 inhabitants in the mid-19th century. After the closure of the Vía de la Plata railway line, which had a station in nearby Encinas de Arriba, the municipality was left without regular public transport. It has a church dedicated to Nuestra Señora del Rosario.
