La Rinconada de la Sierra
Village
La Rinconada de la Sierra is a municipality of 97 inhabitants in the Sierra de Francia comarca, in the Las Quilamas sub-comarca, province of Salamanca, whose territory brings together the settlements of La Rinconada and Ventas de Garriel. It was founded during the medieval resettlement by the Leonese kings and belonged to the archpriesthood of la Valdobla, in the jurisdiction of Salamanca within the Kingdom of León. Its population has been shrinking: it had 182 inhabitants in 2000 and 117 in 2018. Its main festival is that of Santiago Apóstol, on 25 July, a day on which much of the village gathers to eat, and on 2 February it celebrates the festival of las Candelas, with the presentation of the branch at the church.
