Negrilla de Palencia
Village
Negrilla de Palencia is a municipality of Salamanca in the comarca of La Armuña, with 78 inhabitants according to the 2025 census and an area of 11.78 km². Its name appears documented as Nigriela in 1173, in the time of King Ferdinand II of León, and by the 13th century it had already become Negrilla; the addition «de Palencia» came later, from being situated next to Palencia de Negrilla. Founded by the Leonese kings during the medieval resettlement, it was placed within the quarter of Armuña in the jurisdiction of Salamanca and was ceded to the diocese of Salamanca, becoming a cathedral lordship dependent on its bishop. With the creation of the present-day provinces, in 1833, it became part of Salamanca province. It preserves the parish church of San Bartolomé.
