Valdunciel is a municipality in the Salamanca comarca of La Armuña, with 125 inhabitants spread across six settlements: Huelmos de Cañedo, Huelmos de San Joaquín, Los Jarales, Naharros de Valdunciel, the El Chinarral development and Valdunciel itself, over a territory of 33 square kilometres. It arose from the medieval resettlements by the kings of León, within the quarter of Armuña in the Salamanca jurisdiction, and appears as Val Llonziel in the charter granted to Ledesma by Ferdinand II of León in 1161, and as Valnuziel in the 13th century. Its territory, crossed by the Ruta de la Plata motorway, extends over a plateau of the Northern Meseta irrigated by the Vega stream. Its church is dedicated to San Vicente Mártir.
