Puebla de Azaba
Village
Puebla de Azaba, a hamlet of about 145 inhabitants made up of the settlements of Puebla and Castillejo de Azaba, lies in the Campo de Argañán sub-comarca, within the comarca of Ciudad Rodrigo, over an area of 25.98 km². It arose from the resettlement by the kings of León within the jurisdiction of Ciudad Rodrigo, and in the Middle Ages it was called simply "Puebla", without the river's name attached; in 1833 it was placed within the province of Salamanca, within the Leonese Region. The municipality has lost population markedly: between 2000 and 2018 it went from 286 to 177 inhabitants, a drop of 38%.
