What to see and do in La Bouza

La Bouza
Village
La Bouza is a hamlet of barely 48 inhabitants and 14.57 km², one of the smallest districts in the province of Salamanca, in north-western Salamanca and on the border with Portugal, entirely within the Arribes del Duero natural park. Its name means "dense wood" in Leonese and Galician-Portuguese, a language kept alive until the early 20th century by the Galician resettlers from Orense who founded the village in the 11th and 12th centuries. It depended on the monastery of Santa María de Aguiar, then in Leonese territory, and became a border hamlet when the Treaty of Alcañices of 1297 moved the border to the river Coa. It preserves the parish church of the Asunción and looks out over the landscape from the Horca viewpoint.
