Boada
Village
Boada is a municipality in the comarca of Ciudad Rodrigo, in the Salamanca Campo Charro, with 259 inhabitants and the settlement of Porciones within its territory. It was resettled by the kings of León in the Middle Ages. In 1905 its authorities caused a stir throughout Spain by proposing to the president of Argentina that the entire community be moved there, after the privatisation of the communal lands had left most of the village without land; branded unpatriotic, the people of Boada replied that patriotism consists in eating and in feeding one's children. The following year, a royal order created a crop demonstration field in Boada. It preserves a church under the patronage of the Assumption of Our Lady.
