Pelarrodríguez
Village
Pelarrodríguez is a municipality of around 161 inhabitants in the Campo de Salamanca district, made up of Pelarrodríguez and Peramato. It owes its name to a certain Pelay Rodríguez who is said to have led its resettlement during the Middle Ages, which is why locals usually just call it Pelayo. Documents from the reigns of Ramiro III and Bermudo II of León mention a count of Cea by that name, close to the Leonese royal court, although it cannot be confirmed that he was the same man who resettled the town. With the creation of the provinces in 1833 it was placed within Salamanca, within the Región Leonesa.
