Aldehuela de la Bóveda
Village
Aldehuela de la Bóveda is a municipality in the province of Salamanca with about 260 inhabitants spread across eight settlements, including Castro Enríquez, La Estación, Sanchobueno and Villar de los Álamos, in the Campo Charro district. Founded during the medieval repopulation by the kings of León, it was then called Bovadiella de Castro. On 18 December 1965, near the station of its hamlet Villar de los Álamos, the Sud Expreso running the Irún-Lisbon route collided head-on with a mail omnibus coming from Fuentes de Oñoro: 34 people died and more than 50 were injured. In the mid-19th century, according to Pascual Madoz's dictionary, the municipality had barely 195 inhabitants.
